NO!! NO!! NO!! NO!! NO!! No Breeder can guarantee that the puppy will not have Hip Dysplasia. Please read our section on Hip Dysplasia under the Veterinary section for more detailed information. In short: The cause of Hip Dysplasia is probably 50% hereditary and 50% environment and feeding. The Breeder can only register the puppies with KUSA if the parents have been x-rayed for Hip Dysplasia (HD) and if the scores fall within the minimum standards set by the Rottweiler Breed Council. It means that the Breeder has tried to take care of the hereditary component of HD. It still does not mean that there is not a hidden HD gene present. All it means is that you are reducing the possibility that HD will be present in the puppy because of a hereditary problem. As for Environment and Feeding. Here your breeder has no control from the day the puppy leaves his/her premises. Many different things can cause HD: it is much easier to explain by giving you some examples:
These are just a few examples. The main thing is to look after your puppy! Copyright © 2002 RWBA All rights reserved.
